We know Salford's roads
The Quays end of the city keeps us busy. Screws and offcuts from the building work around MediaCityUK end up in tyres on Broadway and Trafford Road. We fit in the open-air parking by The Lowry, at Exchange Quay, and on the terraced streets behind Ordsall Lane where there's barely a van's width between parked cars. If you're in a barriered or multi-storey car park, say so when you ring and we'll agree where to meet.
The M602 feeds most of the trouble. It runs out at junction 3 and tips you onto Regent Road, the A57, and that stretch past the retail parks collects exactly the sort of debris that ends up in a sidewall. Eccles New Road runs parallel with the Metrolink alongside it, so if you've pulled over there, keep well clear of the tram line and we'll work from the kerb side of the car. We cover Pendleton and the streets around Salford Shopping Centre, Langworthy Road, Weaste, and the length of Eccles Old Road past Salford Royal.
Up the A6, the Crescent past Peel Park and the university streets off Frederick Road are mostly permit parking, which suits mobile fitting: we work at the kerb. Chapel Street and Greengate have filled up with apartment blocks whose basement car parks a fitting van can't always get into, so street level is usually the answer there. Before you call
Can you fit a tyre in the MediaCity or Salford Quays car parks?
Yes, on open-air and ground-level parking. Multi-storey and barriered car parks can be awkward because height limits sometimes keep the van out, so tell us exactly which car park you're in when you ring. If the van can't get to the car, we'll agree a spot at street level close by.
Can you get to me if I've stopped on the M602?
Get yourself safe first: hard shoulder, hazards on, everyone out through the passenger side and behind the barrier. Then call with your direction of travel and the nearest junction or marker post. Where it's safe and lawful to work we'll attend on the hard shoulder. Where it isn't, we'll say so and meet you just off junction 1, 2 or 3 once the car is somewhere safer.
Do you cover all of Salford or just the Quays?
