How we get a locking nut off without wrecking the wheel
A locking wheel nut is just a wheel nut with a patterned head that an ordinary socket can't grip. Our removal sockets are hardened and cut to bite into that pattern. Steady leverage, the nut turns, and off it comes. The locking nut itself is scrap afterwards, which is no loss, because without the key it was scrap anyway. No. The removal socket grips the nut, not the wheel. The nut gets destroyed in the process, which costs you nothing, because without a key it was useless anyway. The alloy, its finish and the threads it sits on are left as they were, and the wheel goes back on torqued to spec.
Someone already tried to get it off and rounded the nut. Can you still remove it?
